Poetry for Dinner

10/23/2013

Yesterday, on NPR's Diane Rehm Show, a woman said that she had once thrown a Poetry Dinner, where each guest had to bring a poem based on food, and a dish based on the food in their poem.  They all took turns reading their poems, and she read a poem by Billy Collins about a fish feeling sad for the lonely man in a run-down diner eating it. Both the idea of a Poetry Dinner and the fish poem itself sound COOL.

Billy Collins is another poet I need to seek out.  And come to think of it: I had already named my ongoing collection of poems "Fish."

No. I am not reading poems about fish. I will bring fish and chips to appease you.

No, they aren't poems about Fish. I just named my poetry collection collection "Fish." That's because in the cookbook I write my recipes, there are not enough fish recipes to fill the "Fish" section, so I put poems in there instead. (If I do have fish recipes, I put them in the slight misnomered "Meat" section of the cook book.

Hi!  I am Nye Joell Hardy.
I write science fiction and fantasy.  The  science fiction makes my head happy.  The fantasy makes my heart happy.  Oh, and
I have started making "Moth Books." Although I sell all these things, none are making me rich.  But I'm
    happy, damn it.

This site is to share with my friends my writing, the books I am reading, and other amusements.
